When he strove with Aram-Naharaim and with
Aram-Zobah, when Joab returned, and struck
twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt.
-
O God, you have cast us off, you have
scattered us, you have been angry; O turn
yourself to us again.
-
You have made the earth tremble; you have
broken it; heal its breaches; for it totters.
-
You have shown your people hard things; you
have made us drink the wine of staggering.
-
You have given a banner to those who fear
you, that it may be displayed because of the
truth. Selah.
-
That your beloved ones may be saved; save
with your right hand, and answer me.
-
God has spoken in his holiness; I will
rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and measure out
the Valley of Succoth.

Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim
also is the strength of my head; Judah is my
scepter;

Moab is my washbasin; over Edom I will cast
my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph.

Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who
will lead me to Edom?

Have you not rejected us, O God, so that you
do not go forth with our armies?
-
Give us help against the enemy; for vain is
the help of man.
-
Through God we shall do bravely; for he it
is who shall trample down our enemies.

ב בְּהַצּוֹתוֹ | אֶת אֲרַם נַֽהֲרַיִם וְאֶת־אֲרַם צוֹבָה וַיָּשָׁב יוֹאָב
וַיַּךְ אֶת־אֱדוֹם בְּגֵיא־מֶלַח שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר

ג אֱלֹהִים זְנַחְתָּנוּ פְרַצְתָּנוּ אָנַפְתָּ תְּשׁוֹבֵֽב לָֽנוּ
ד הִרְעַשְׁתָּה אֶרֶץ פְּצַמְתָּהּ רְפָה שְׁבָרֶיהָ כִי־מָֽטָה
ה הִרְאִיתָה עַמְּךָ קָשָׁה הִשְׁקִיתָנוּ יַיִן תַּרְעֵלָֽה
ו נָתַתָּה לִּירֵאֶיךָ נֵּס לְהִתְנוֹסֵס מִפְּנֵי קֹשֶׁט סֶֽלָה
ז לְמַעַן יֵחָלְצוּן יְדִידֶיךָ הוֹשִׁיעָה יְמִֽינְךָ וַֽעֲנֵֽנִו

יג הָֽבָה־לָּנוּ עֶזְרָת מִצָּר וְשָׁוְא תְּשׁוּעַת אָדָֽם
