Tehilim - Songs For All Situations

This issue of the Tehilim Hotline email Newsletter is dedicated l`iluy nishmas Rochel bas Moshe a`h, in loving memory of Ms. Rose Hirschman of blessed memory, a principal sponsor of the Tehilim Hotline for many years whose yahrzeit begins tonight, 16 Cheshvan.

Rose Hirschman was a unique individual, whose love for Hashem, His people, His Torah and its students was exemplary.

Her motto in life was MITZVOS ARE CARFARE. She even had a button pin made up with this slogan, which she always wore proudly.
She would visit sick people in hospitals and nursing homes and cheer them up. She visited sick children and bought toys and teddy bears for them.

When she was in her sixties, she was badly hurt in an accident of which she suffered a broken neck. She had to undergo many, many months of rehabilitation in the hospital because of the severity of the injury. On her floor in the hospital were many patients with various incapacitating and painful injuries. Most of them did not survive. She said that her strong faith in the Almighty is what helped her through the painful ordeal. She related that while in the hospital, she would talk to Hashem every day and that was the only way she was able to raise the courage and strength to make it through her ordeal during those difficult months.

Her example brought others close to Hashem and showed how one individual can make a difference in the community at large.

She lived a full life, thanking Hashem for each and every day. At the age of 88 she returned her neshama - soul to the God she loved so much.

She will always be fondly remembered in the hearts and minds of those who had the privilege to know her.
